My War

Updated: Jan 11, 2019

My War | Pineapple in a Pine Tree Blog | Jessica A. Goolsby | Poetry

Creating a new perspective, destroying the walls they locked me in. as the heart pounds the lights flicker, flickering consistently in this room. is this fire or illumination?

This space, the smoke, the shade on the window. stained glass faces distorting my view. peek through girl, do not be afraid.

See right through that window, for what it really is. for what has been on the other side all along.

the closer to the fear, the glass filters gold.

This perspective full of color and fresh air. Wear your past as a badge, and venture over to the next view.

As often as you have thought that they built this cage, it was your creation. So stand, despite of the burn, and win the war you stirred within, that tiny room you stayed inside.
