Secrets

A bookshelf leading to secret places no one knows.

I carry their secrets,

They stain my soul.

I carry this burden,

I'm as a shield for life's cold.

There needs no more shame,

Or war.

Lies ripple and tear down cities,

The truth is I can't let it hurt one more.

If their secret flew,

I know I would be understood.

Wings that carry the answers,

O but to burn other hearts it would.

The flames would take over,

And only I would be free.

And the pain would carry,

Far past me.
